COSMIC EDGES

ROGUE PHILOSOPHY & POETICS

RECORDINGS OF PAST CLASSES

I’m a writer and astrologer with over a decade of experience practicing and teaching courses on poetry, literature, ancient and modern astrology, philosophy, cinema, and visual art. I aim to teach workshops that are generative and interdisciplinary, with a focus on figures and works which are ambiguous or controversial, and to create a loose, fun, and rigorous environment where students can think for themselves, take risks, and find pockets of silence away from the maddening crowd. Classes are for current students, dropouts, seekers, skeptics, and edge-dwellers. All sales are final. For information on sliding scale prices or payment plans, or any other questions—-please email me at emmalearusso@gmail.com.

SUPERNATURAL KNOWLEDGE: A SIMONE WEIL WORKSHOP
November 30, 2024-January 18, 2025

SUPERNATURAL KNOWLEDGE:

A SIMONE WEIL WORKSHOP

“To accept the void in oneself is supernatural,” wrote Simone Weil, a 20th-century mystic, philosopher, and activist. In this class, which serves as both an introduction to Simone Weil and a deep dive into her life and work, we’ll discuss her ideas about attention, truth, revolution, justice, God, and thought itself. Each session will be dedicated to a particular aspect of Weil’s thought. The first half of each class will be lecture/slide show format and in the second half, we’ll read excerpts from her major works together and have discussions, time for Q+A. We’ll discuss the ways we might be able to apply Simone Weil’s attentive, rigorous, and heterodox thought to our own information-saturated age. We’ll think alongside of her, and hopefully become better thinkers ourselves. Though there will be recommended readings for each week, no preparation is required. The audio from each session will be recorded and all participants will receive slides and recordings after class.
